Window and Conservatory Installation Process

Window and Conservatory Installation Process

How we design, manufacture and install bespoke windows and conservatories

Investing in new windows, doors or a conservatory is a significant decision. Homeowners want to know not only how their home will look, but what the experience will be like from start to finish.

At Philip Whear, our window and conservatory installation process is designed to be clear, structured and reassuring. From the first conversation through to long-term aftercare, every stage is carefully managed to deliver lasting quality and peace of mind.

If you’re planning a window upgrade, our window installation in Cornwall page explains the full process and what to expect on install day.

Step 1: Visit Our Showroom & Manufacturing Facility

Many projects begin with a visit to our 2,000 square foot showroom and factory in Pool, Cornwall. This allows you to see our aluminium, timber and uPVC windows, doors and conservatories up close.

Viewing products in person gives a true sense of quality, proportions and finishes, while also providing insight into how our bespoke glazing products are manufactured on site.

You will have the opportunity to speak with our experienced team, ask questions and explore design ideas in a relaxed, no-obligation environment.

Step 2: Personal Home Design Visit

Once you are ready to proceed, we arrange a home visit with one of our designers. This stage is essential to ensure your new windows or conservatory complement the style, structure and character of your property.

During the visit, we discuss how you intend to use the space, consider architectural details and take accurate measurements. Potential challenges are identified early, allowing the project to progress smoothly.

Whether you have a clear vision or are still exploring ideas, our role is to guide and advise based on experience and best practice.

Step 3: Detailed Quote, Specification & Visuals

Following the home visit, we prepare a detailed quotation and specification pack. This clearly outlines materials, glazing options, finishes and installation details.

To help you visualise the final result, we include a preliminary CAD drawing showing how the proposed design will sit with your home.

For greater realism, we can also provide a photorealistic CGI, combining the design with a photograph of your property.

Step 4: Contracts, Planning & Compliance

Once you are happy to proceed, we prepare a formal contract and take a deposit to secure your project.

We advise whether planning permission is required. Many window and conservatory installations fall under permitted development, although this varies depending on the property.

If planning approval is needed, we can manage the application process on your behalf, handling all documentation and liaising with the local authority.

Step 5: Manufacturing Your Windows or Conservatory

Our uPVC windows and doors are manufactured in-house by skilled local craftsmen. This allows us to maintain full control over quality and specification.

Clients are welcome to visit the factory while production is underway, offering reassurance and insight into the level of care and precision involved.

Every component is produced with durability, performance and long-term reliability in mind.

Step 6: Colour, Finishes & Final Details

If you choose a painted finish, this stage allows your project to become truly personal. We can spray virtually any colour to complement or contrast with your home.

All painted components are finished in our dedicated spray booth, ensuring a consistent, high-quality and long-lasting finish.

Step 7: Professional Installation & Project Management

Installation is carried out by our experienced fitting teams, who are known for their professionalism and attention to detail.

We work efficiently and respectfully, keeping disruption to a minimum and maintaining a clean, tidy site throughout the installation process.

For larger or more complex projects, our Installation Manager oversees the work to ensure everything runs smoothly from start to finish.

Step 8: Aftercare, Guarantees & Ongoing Support

Once installation is complete, we arrange a follow-up visit to carry out final quality checks and explain how to operate and maintain your new windows or conservatory.

We provide a comprehensive guarantee and ongoing support. Should any issues arise, our service engineers are available to assist promptly.

Long-term aftercare is a core part of our service, ensuring your investment continues to perform as intended.
